Motivation for whole-heart perfusion CMR: a simulation study based on retrospective comparison of the diagnostic performance of 3-slice vs. whole-heart SPECT
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background There is an ongoing debate on the merit of whole-heart 3D CMR perfusion imaging in terms of improving the overall diagnostic accuracy of myocardial perfusion CMR [1]. Whole-heart imaging is technically more challenging [2] and requires a compromise in terms of the spatial resolution [2] and temporal footprint (hence, potentially leading to more instances of artifactual images). The purpose of this work was to evaluate the potential incremental diagnostic value of whole-heart myocardial perfusion imaging compared to 3-slice imaging. The presented results are based on on a simulation of 3-slice imaging with myocardial perfusion SPECT (MPS) in a retrospective quantitative analysis of a large cohort who underwent stress MPS [3,4].

MR-IMPACT: comparison of perfusion-cardiac magnetic resonance with single-photon emission computed tomography for the detection of coronary artery disease in a multicentre, multivendor, randomized trial.
AIMS To determine in a multicentre, multivendor trial the diagnostic performance for perfusion-cardiac magnetic resonance (perfusion-CMR) in comparison with coronary X-ray angiography (CXA) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). METHODS AND RESULTS Of 241 eligible patients from 18 centres, 234 were randomly dosed with 0.01, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, or 0.1 mmol/kg Gd-DTPA-BMA (Omni...
متن کاملClinical evaluation of magnetic resonance imaging in coronary heart disease: The CE-MARC study
BACKGROUND Several investigations are currently available to establish the diagnosis of coronary heart disease (CHD). Of these, cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) offers the greatest information from a single test, allowing the assessment of myocardial function, perfusion, viability and coronary artery anatomy. However, data from large scale studies that prospectively evaluate the diagnost...
متن کاملMR-IMPACT II: Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Myocardial Perfusion Assessment in Coronary artery disease Trial: perfusion-cardiac magnetic resonance vs. single-photon emission computed tomography for the detection of coronary artery disease: a comparative multicentre, multivendor trial.
AIMS Perfusion-cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) has emerged as a potential alternative to single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) to assess myocardial ischaemia non-invasively. The goal was to compare the diagnostic performance of perfusion-CMR and SPECT for the detection of coronary artery disease (CAD) using conventional X-ray coronary angiography (CXA) as the reference standard. ...
متن کاملThe evaluation of slant hole collimator in myocardial perfusion SPECT: a simulation study
Introduction: We have investigated cardiac SPECT with slant hole collimator in which the holes are slanted towards the target organ, to provide greater sensitivity over the parallel hole collimator. In addition, parallel hole collimator was used to obtain a comparison in FWHM, sensitivity, Compton and photoelectric area values in the simulations. Materials and Methods...
